Mrs. J's Boudoir Session

Janna is, without a doubt, one of the most positive energies we’ve had to walk through these doors. She completely destroys the continuous mind and body image issues that women struggle with every day.

“I’m no longer 20”

“I no longer look 20”

“I’m too big”

“I’m too skinny”

“My butt is flat”

“My butt is fat”

“I’m too pale”

“I’m too dark”

“My boobs hang”

“My boobs are too small”

“I have stretch marks”

“I have cellulite”

“My teeth are crooked”

“I don’t like my nose”

These are the most common ridiculous criticisms that we come up with to keep our minds and bodies suppressed. We, as a society, teach our boys and girls what we learned is pretty, ugly, weird, awesome, perfect and imperfect and so on. When all along, there truly is no such thing as pretty, ugly or imperfect. Do you hear me? THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PRETTY, UGLY OR IMPERFECT! A stretch mark is the body’s beautiful design that is left when life is created, or when the body grows rapidly and our flesh knows how to accommodate. Your “crooked” teeth make your smile stand out from the rest. A smile is life and love reflected through an expression. There is no ugly in that. Embrace your YOU. Embrace all that is beautiful in spite of what you were told was or wasn’t beautiful. Embrace your marks and scars. Embrace your story.

Our precious muse, Janna, has shown us much of this amazing character. She did a session with us as a gift both to herself and her husband. She came in with a confidence that only one who has faced and conquered obstacles could have. Seemingly, life altering surgery knocked her to the ground. Her passion for running came to a screeching halt. Fear of injury and depression got her down. But her loving and supportive husband couldn’t bear to see his beloved bride down and out. So, one day he made it up in his mind to help her pull herself up by her bootstraps. He came home with a t-shirt that he had picked up earlier that day. He told her it was a shirt he got for signing her up for a marathon. Shocked, afraid, nervous and motivated, she took his loving gift and began to train. Love pulled her out of one of the most challenging times in her life. She has been running ever since.

Proud of her battle scars and it shows. Her images reflect the beauty and confidence she carries within who she is. Beauty defined. Janna our muse.
